This year's festival adjudicator is Helen E Sharman
Helen has been involved with amateur theatre for as long as she can remember. Her parents, her husband, both her children and one of her dogs, have all taken part in local productions and her late father was also a member of GODA. She has worked extensively with youth theatre and has a particular interest in encouraging the next generation of actors and technicians.
She is an active member of Beaconsfield Theatre Group, as a director, actor and behind the scenes. Most recently she played Mrs. Wilberforce in The Ladykillers and the Duchess of York in RichardIII. Last year she directed Breaking the Code and is currently working on a production of Jerusalem.
Helen has adjudicated at numerous one-act play festivals and has completed three ‘tours of duty’ with the Brent and Barnet festival of full length plays. In 2012, she was invited to the Shetland County Drama Festival, learning a smattering of the dialect along the way! She has been a competitor herself and understands the stresses, strains, and joys of the festival experience.
(Helen has written two books for A & C Black, including - Directing for Amateur Theatre. When not immersed in theatre, she attempts to grow bonsai trees and is often to be found in the local woods with her dog.) This para can disappear if need be
