Wayne Sheridan (aka Bern Hogan), a former Beckenham Theatre member, is making his Off West End debut in London next month with a play that he has written and directed. You may remember Wayne from such shows as Darker Shores and In His Wake, which he both wrote and directed and which, sadly, was the final play performed at Beckenham Theatre before it closed its doors, initially because of the Covid-19 pandemic, in March 2020.
Nearly 3 years on, Wayne now brings us Countess Jeanne and the Necklace Scam!
A riotous new fast-paced farce in the vein of The 39 Steps and One Man, Two Guvnors, it’s on at the Drayton Arms Theatre (near Earls Court) from 11th to 22nd October 2022. There are Saturday matinees on the 15th and 22nd October at 3pm with evening performances at 7.30pm.
“As a forgotten descendent of a dying royal bloodline, Jeanne admires and envies Marie Antoinette, a woman whom she sees as a beacon of the aristocratic life to which she should have been entitled. Driven by greed and delusion Jeanne pairs with a poetic young gigolo named Rétaux in an attempt to syphon funds, under the guise of the Queen, from the lovelorn Cardinal Rohan.
When an opportunity presents itself to escalate the con and defraud the monarchy of a two million franc necklace Jeanne must manipulate and lie her way past her eccentric husband, a lovelorn Cardinal, Marie Antoinette (and maybe even the audience!) to steal it.”

Come for the historical inaccuracies, stay for the unbelievable truths!
See it before the French monarchy try us all for treason!
Wayne would love to see some of his friends and former members of BTC there! Remember, the Drayton Arms is a pub as well as a theatre!
