After thirteen years, The Matchbox Theatre returns to Terry Pratchett’s much-loved Discworld, carrying on where 2010’s ‘Wyrd Sisters’ left off.
The three witches, Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat are back, though this time joined by a cast of Pratchett’s most memorable characters including Rincewind, Angua, Stibbons, Chancellor Ridcully, Lord Vetinari and the Librarian! And this time they’re not just on the Discworld but travelling through multiverses to Roundworld, our Earth, around the late 16th century.
They need to work together not only to stop the threat of vindictive elves attempting to enslave humanity, but also inspire a certain playwright to write ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, free the Chair of Indefinite Studies (amongst others) from a fate worse than death, and bring the potato to Elizabethan England.
Filled with Pratchett’s trademark satire, slapstick and a side order of philosophy, Stephen Brigg’s ‘The Shakespeare Codex offers a fast-paced romp through time and space, with no knowledge of Discworld or the Bard required!
