Steaming is set in the Turkish Room of a run-down Public Baths in the East End of London in 1981, where six women regularly meet to bathe, relax and share their troubles. A plan to close the baths brings them even closer together to oppose it.

Winner of The Society of West End Theatre Award for The Comedy of the Year, 1981 and The Evening Standard Drama Award for The Most Promising New Playwright, 1981.

It was later adapted into a film by Joseph Losey, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Diana Dors. See the original film trailer here. Directed by Emily Edmunds.
